Chapter Thirteen: Spectors

Image
It was dark. The kind of dark where Bramble couldn’t see her hand even though she knew it was right in front of her face. Her heart was pounding a mile a minute and her mind was racing at the same speed. Despite the fact that her sight was hindered she knew what was surrounded her: three men – two whom were unconscious -and a small barn that was located directly in front of her. Her elbows were locked with one of the unfortunate guard’s as she dragged him head first into the shrubbery. The whole barn was surrounded by the overgrown greenery. She dumped him there and a nearly silent thud signaled that the other unconscious man had been hidden from view as well. Bramble wheeled around, her pace calm and her breathing unusually even after knocking two fully grown men out. She headed back the way she came, using the bright blue glow that pierced the night as a guide. It glimmered a few inches about her head. The light Azreal’s spark provided was hardly enough to give away their positio...

Chapter Twelve: Realizations

Image
Bramble found herself on Chad’s front porch that evening. She wasn’t sure how long she had stood there unsure of whether she should knock or not. It was an odd notion - she hadn’t been nervous to see Chad since the first night she had visited. In the last few months it had become part of her usual routine; A routine that had been compromised due to a misunderstanding. Or so Airin had said. The notion that kept Bramble’s hand by her side was the simple fact that she wasn’t certain it had been a misunderstanding. What if Chad’s had meant to take advantage of the situation? She wasn’t certain that Chad had any real lasting feelings for her. The choice to confront Chad was made for her when his little brother threw the door open in a hurry. The young man stood there, eyes rimmed with dark eyeliner, looking slightly dazed. Soon a smile broke out on his lips and he called up the stairway, “CHAD! YOUR FRIEND IS HERE” Apparently he didn’t remember her name. Which was a good thing since she...

Chapter Eleven

Image
Bramble ran well after her feet began to hurt. She continued after her calves burnt and her legs screamed in exhaustion. She sprinted past houses and roads, hills and trees. The chilly fall air stung her eyes and brought a fresh bout of tears to her lashes. She collected various odd looks, stares and hollers from the various Sims she passed. She saw none of it. All her brain could replay was the moment Chad had chosen to kiss her. It had been her first. Her first kiss and she didn’t want it. Stolen from her in a moment of weakness. At these thoughts a wave of Adrenaline surged through her and she picked up her pace with new vigor. It was a while before she began to calm down. Her pace was still brisk but her mind began to comprehend her surroundings. She was in a forest on the outskirts of the lake. There was a man in front of her. She couldn’t quite make out the look on his face, but he was familiar. Calming. She knew this feeling. Bramble took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Sh...

Chapter Ten: Trust Betrayed

Image
Bramble took a moment to inspect the room while the blonde in the corner continued to rant and rave about how much she wished Bramble wasn’t there. It was spacious and sparsely furnished. Matter of fact, the only real furniture in the whole room were the table and chairs they were currently situated around. There was a fireplace to her right but that was it. No lights hung from the ceiling. Instead the room was lit by candles and the aforementioned fireplace. She also noticed the slew of artwork on the walls. Most of it was odd, abstract. There were also blue prints everywhere. They were pinned up over numerous sections of the wooden wall. She faintly wondered what they were for when that obnoxious voice stopped it’s screeching. “Honey, I think you should calm down. Precautions have been put in place,” This was the deep voice she had heard earlier. Bramble found herself looking at the man longer than intentioned. He was huge in both height and weight. She could tell he towered above ...

Chapter Nine

Image
A week flew by before she knew it. Every day she went to work and every night she visited with Chad. He always seemed to have some story to entertain her with. Finally, on one stormy afternoon, the moment that had been causing her stomach to twist arrived. To be more specific, Airin arrived. She had finished cleaning the store a while ago and was working on organizing the selections, which was a hassle since she didn’t even know what most of the books were about. Some were even in different languages. This put her in the front of the store, in the middle of a conversation with Chance, when the front door swung open. Wind gushed in and leaves followed suit. In the middle of it all was Airin. His blonde hair ruffled by the gusts and clothes flapping, he slammed the door shut behind him. “Ah, Airin,” Chance greeted, “My father had your request finished today.” Airin wiped his brow, his hands fighting fruitlessly with his hair, “Thank you Chance. It means a lot to me and my family.” H...

Chapter Eight

Image
Chapter Eight Chad kept his word. He didn’t touch her more than needed. Every word that escaped his lips was polite. He had even held the cab door open for her and then repeated the action when they finally arrived. He was on his best behavior – the perfect gentlemen. The first thing Chad had done after a complimentary tour around the first floor of his house was offer her that toasty shower she had found herself dreaming of. She accepted, probably more excitedly than needed. He laughed at her enthusiasm before he ushered her upstairs and into a marble tiled bathroom. She stood there, feeling quite helpless, as Chad collected things he deemed necessary for a woman to shower. On that list was a brush, towels, about a dozen different hair products, facial scrubs, body wash and loufa. When he first mentioned the loufa she laughed. It was such a strange word. Then she questioned him on what it was. He replied with a bunch of awkward motions that look liked he was washing his body ...
